20 Years ago, Emory Austin had Breast Cancer. Eleven years ago her husband was diagnosed with Leukemia. Ten years ago, she had an accident-related total hip replacement. Interestingly, because she was at the time preparing to speak for an Operating Room Nurses Association, she asked for a spinal injection so that she could be awake during the surgery and see what goes on in an operating room!
